emeraldstag: Sailor Moon's Usagi & Luna (mass effect)
[personal profile] emeraldstag
Figure I should give my thoughts before I forget them given I stopped playing it once May hit. Now trying to make my way through Batman Arkham Asylum.  I guess two  months of gameplay is pretty good for consistency, though all of April I was only playing the co-op multiplayer mode which had its fun but I think I played myself out of it.

Quick hit Spoilers:
  • The ending. Not a big deal for me. This idea where you the ending has to be something you like is a stranger to me. I was able to choose the synthesis ending and while I surely would have enjoyed a bit more of an epilogue and it was sad for Shepard's story to end I was okay with it. If I want more with the characters I can check out fanfic which I did for a time after the game.
  • I do wish we were getting playable DLC that was planned instead of whatever extra ending stuff they are now working on.  It didn't feel right to not have anything to do with Aria outside grouping together the mercenaries. I was expecting a much bigger role with her especially after the prequel comic pretty much had her as the main character. I am hoping that there is a Battle for Omega DLC somewhere in the future. I was sad that she wasn't an LI either.
  • I used a player save that went through ME1 & ME2 and for my first goaround Liara was my LI. The moments between her and my Shepard were so great and touching. I also love how little things change depending on the circumstances of your character if you romanced someone else in me1, chose another in me2 then went back ... the little variations is just amazing.
  • I can understand people upset about the ME2 characters getting a bit of the shaft, but I think considering that any/most could die during the suicide mission in ME2 it was to be expected. It would have been impossible to build central stories around characters that could possibly dead in some people's games.
  • I was shocked by the difficulty of ME3.. The tension that grew in me as I played, I was literally drained when I finished the game.  And while a lot is improved it is that tension that made me wary to play through it again, which is unfortunate.  I probably won't pick up the ME3 single-player again until new DLC comes out, even though I want to see the other LI moments. It was just too MUCH.
  • One of the weird things about ME3 is using the retrofitted SR-2 as your ship again and all the differences from the last game.  It took me so long to not want to see Miranda in the XO office or Jack in the subdecks.
  • It's a shame that there was that BS around the Prothean DLC but honestly, it is well worth the money. The insight that character gives throughout moments of the game are priceless.
