i need to look at my year in review posts so I know what I'll be doing on here for the next week, but I think there's a clear sign to be what my top show will be. Unbelievably I actually missed seeing the S5 finale live due to holiday craziness, but now I finally saw it and want to talk Psych.

There is irony that a season that I think has been fantastic ends with an episode that requires having seen previous episodes. As i only got hooked onto Psych this summer when SLEUTH ran a marathon, I jumped on with S5 and have seen a sporadic bunch of episodes from the previous seasons. Unfortunately this episode dealt with Yin/Yang, where previous episode(s) I have never seen.
So the slightly more serious, suspense/thriller feel coming from the show was new to me and while the laughs were less I really thought a lot of nice character moments happened in this one. Gus telling Shawn he doesn't blame him when it looks like he's going to die, Lassiter doing Shawn a favor without a second thought, Henry in action wielding his gun around, and Jules being affected by the Yin/Yang case with Shawn there to pick her up (and perhaps the funny moment being Lassiter discovering the two are dating).
This show is just so darn funny. For some reason I have a lot of trouble watching half-hour sitcoms, but find myself LOLing during one-hour shows like Psych. Even episodes where I don't get all the references (The Twin Peaks episode) it gets weird enough that I can't help laughing just at the sheer ridiculousness of what is on the screen. Now starts the drought of 6-7 months with no new Psych, but I'm hoping to catch more of the repeats and maybe get the DVDs - I love this show that much.
