Smallville 10.7 "Ambush"
Nov. 6th, 2010 02:49 pmHad to sleep on my thoughts for this episode so that I wouldn't be overwhelmingly negative in my review, but I do have to say this was easily my least favorite S10 episode.
First off, the vigilante/blur-hating is becoming an overused cliché plot and the Vigilante Registration Act is very much not an original idea. The continual revisiting of these ideas annoy me in the way that every X-Men story has to be about mutant discrimination/hating.
Secondly, this season of Smallville is quickly gaining the feel of this season's Chuck in that the main character's relationship is taking way too much of the focus of every episode. And with the rumors swirling and the question Clark had to ask the General about Lois ... this relationship is being rushed way too fast and the thing is they don't have to do that because we all know Clark and Lois are endgame. It's ruining my enjoyment of the show.
Thirdly, I have not been happy with Tess since season 8 "Turbulence". I had the highest hopes after that episode and since then I have hated everything they've done with her. And now Tess = S9 Chloe, where she's only seen in the Watchtower doing things (ignoring the clone story from now on). Not to mention that the show is shoving Chlollie down our throats and Oliver can't live without her or stay in the Watchtower because of it ... except Chloe's husband died in that place and she didn't have a problem moving on from that and hooking up with Oliver within a few months. It's ridiculous. And now with Chloe M.I.A. you can't even have fun Tess/Oliver which they never fully explored in the first place.
Fourthly, before i forget. THEY DESTROYED THE FUCKING TALON WITH LITTLE FANFARE. That place was so great and so underused in the last 5 seasons. I bet the only reason they destroyed it was so that Lois would have to live with Clark in more pushing of the relationship. I'll miss that place. :(
Lastly, I'm tired of another overused storyline of Lois' family hating Clark/Blur/Superman. I especially hated how Lucy was portrayed where she seemed more like a catty mean girl instead of a loving sister. The reconciliation at the end kept me from saying this was the worst episode in years but I was just so disappointed. This show is becoming too much Clark/Lois relationship and not enough righting wrongs and having fun adventures. The only thing that keeps me going with this season is the returning guest stars, but I dread the Darkseid storyline now with the crappy cloud/dust graphic they've shown a few times, my anticipation and eagerness for the rest of the season is slowly shrinking.
