emeraldstag: Sailor Moon's Usagi & Luna (fantasy)

Had a marathon this week so I could catch up before the two-part finale. Waiting to see the two parts together back to back so my thoughts on the finale will be down the road from now.

2.17 "Vengeance"
Ever since Richard's heritage was revealed to be of Rahl blood, I was always interested in finding out about his father. I was not expecting that the Rahls and Zarranders were so closely tied even before Panis got with Zed's daughter. It was interesting to see him in his youth as a platinum blonde and being close friends with Zedd (return of the Young Zedd!). And why he killed Zedd's father, the death of his own child and Zedd helping him conceive Darken Rahl. A great episode with backstory.

I also liked the moments of Panis with Richard, talking about his family and how proud he was of Richard. It made up for the really awkward moment when Panis went to the underworld and Darken Rahl hugged him. One of the things I've come to enjoy about LotS is the recurring characters, like Young Zedd, Zedd's brother, even the mention of Sebastian for the map.

2.18 "Walter"
I was wondering how they were going to bring Darken Rahl back to the land of the living and having a double makes a lot of sense as many in power have done something like that. What was even more enjoyable was hearing the tale of Walter and everything he went through with Malray.

This was a huge sexy!time episode. The bathing scenes with the Mord-Siths, and the pleasures that go with it, clearly Darken Rahl had very exotic tastes, mixing pain and pleasure like that. So deadly. There was also that kickass action moment when Kahlan, Cara & the confessed Sister of the Dark threw weapons in complete synchronization ... Awesome.

2.19 "Extinction"
Kahlan's anger at the massacre of the Nightwisps reminded me that we haven't seen the blood rage of hers since very early in the season. I always expected when that was introduced in S1 that it would be a recurring theme but doesn't seem that way (just like Richard's struggle with the fury of the sword). I also enjoyed Cara's conversations with the Nightwisp where she admitted caring for the others. The insecurities under her tough exterior must be what keeps her from helping Darken Rahl in convincing Richard to give in to his guilty pleasures. LOL.

I have to say this episode firmed up my conclusion that I had missed Darken Rahl as a big time character. I really enjoyed when he and Richard teamed up to fight against the Sisters of the Dark. I am also ready to declare Darken Rahl the fanfiction writer of the group. He was totally pushing the Cara/Richard/Kahlan angle that many of us have also thought about given the circumstances surrounding the gang.

2.20 "Eternity"
I guess I had forgotten about the closeness in Mord-Siths, but with the increase of sexy!time in S2 I shouldn't have been surprised that all of a sudden Dahlia and Cara would go at it. Of all the times for poor Zedd to be a deep sleeper. Feels like the beginning of some dirty joke, Two Mord-Siths & a Wizard went camping ...

I wish the story of Cara & Darken Rahl's son being guarded by some Mord-Siths including Dahlia was true. I really like the idea of legacies, and the idea of the bloodlines being continued there and then followed by Richard & Kahlan's daughter. Talk about FUN. The eventual breaking of Cara was predictable once they superpowered the Agiel which really shows how powerful her loyalty and devotion has grown to Richard and the crew. I'm interested to see the two part finale and see how they get their Cara back. I'm pretty sure sexy!time will be involved. LOL.
