emeraldstag: Sailor Moon's Usagi & Luna (smallville)

Honestly I didn't know what to expect in this episode because the trailer last week really didn't give the viewers much to go on besides a moment between Lois & Clark. Which while I was fine being the focus of the tease, I wish they had given a little more time to Lois' other pursuits and Oliver's adventure in the episode.

Lois & Clark. Combining the two because they were really a pair for most of the episode, probably the first time you can say that since last season's "Committed". I absolutely enjoyed the idea of them expanding their job coverage and attempting to be hosts of Metropolis' morning show, it's too bad they didn't get it - loved the Cat Grant appearance and that she was Clark's online date - because the newspaper industry isn't doing that well and I'd like to see them adapt to the world's changes and have them doing work online or doing tv (since some of the comic universes had them as news anchors back in the day). The kiss was interesting because it was literally the last scene (almost thought it wasn't going to be in the episode) and because they're basically making out in the middle of the Daily Planet. Talk about improving co-worker morale. XD - A

Oliver & Mia. I remember reading that they were going to explore Oliver having a sidekick, and that it was going to be Mia but I didn't connect it to the episode until he called her 'Speedy'. I like the idea of having a female foil for Oliver, which I think works best for his character, and with Dinah's actress busy on Stargate, this seems like the best alternative. I hope Mia is around for at least a few episodes this season, and the idea of Oliver in the mentor role and helping someone out of their misery like the Smallville crew did for him is fun to watch. I'm also glad to see closure to the Oliver/Lois relationship, I never liked the two together but having it brought back up and see Clark ready to move aside for his friends was entertaining to watch. Glad Chloe was able to knock some sense into Clark to fight for what he wants. We'll see what the aftermath of that kiss is. - A

Chloe & Stuart. I'm not liking at all where this is going. I thought I didn't like Dr. Hamilton hanging around Chloe all the time, and now we have this hip, young computer hacker who is interacting with her now. And her idea to bring him to their side to have another hand ... does this mean another person that's going to know about Clark? Can we really close that door before it opens please? I want to see Chloe around Clark, Lois & Oliver more than other characters on her own. It's nice to see her not dwelling on Jimmy or the Davis mess but to be getting chummy with this Stuart, I just don't get the need for him outside of giving Chloe something to do/someone to talk to because i still believe THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE EQUAL PARTS FOR LOIS & CHLOE IN THE SAME EPISODE. - F

Tess & Zod. I'm still finding the interaction between the two not as smooth as I think they want it to be. I don't believe for one second that Zod could hide the fact that he's the CEO of the company Tess decided to get together with for the sun tower. Wouldn't you know who you're dealing with before you agree to something like that? It does make the wonderful idea of the sun harnessing tower seem a lot more ominous because of what the Kandorians are probably really wanting the technology to do - discover how to get their bodies to harness the sun's energy for their powers to appear. I don't understand why Clark hasn't confronted Tess already but that looks to be fixed next week. - D

I have a few problems with next week's "Kandor" and it's a trend that has developed in the last few seasons of Smallville, where things said or done doesn't reflect events that happened in the early seasons of Smallville (like in "Crossfire" Lois saying Clark sounded like her mother on prom night when she died during her childhood). In this one we find Jor-El among the Kryptonians and if you remember in season 3's "Relic" where Jor-El visited Smallville 40 years before and he was played by Tom Welling. It seems like they're bringing in an actor to play Jor-El and looks nothing like Tom and I don't quite get that. Unless they're saying he's older but the most 20 years could've passed from when he visited Smallville and Krypton blew up and I don't see him changing that much. We'll see and I'll try not to hold it against the episode. Looking forward to seeing Clark confront Tess, something that should've happened before now, maybe even while he was only the "Blur" between seasons.
