Chuck 4.07 "vs the First Fight"

emeraldstagGoing to limit the negativity but the last 15 minutes ruined this episode for me.
It's funny but I hated Timothy Dalton as James Bond. I can barely watch his time as Bond, but I also think he is a fantastic actor and love him in Flash Gordon and The Rocketeer. I thought his scene with Chuck both at the meeting and in the plane was hilarious. I was even sad that he was not going to stick around when he got shot at the bank, but then the rest of the episode had to happen.
The whole basis of the show has been normal Chuck becoming a spy because of the Intersect inside his mind. Now with what happened in this episode and what was in the preview again hints at a time where Chuck is without the intersect and tries to either be a spy without the Intersect or reactivate it. This gets me back to that feeling I've been having that I yearn for the days of early season Chuck, before the show became all about Chuck/Sarah and back in a time when Stephen Bartowski was still around (heck even through Bryce Larkin in there).
After two fantastic episodes, the show had to get back to some cliché plots and I have to say, I'm already tired of Frost/Mary Bartowski. I don't want to have to go through this she's evil/she's not storyline for another 6 months. And also, yet again, the show does its thing in erasing the new thing that was added to the show to bring everything back to square one (blowing up Orion's hideout, just like immediately in the premiere episode Chuck joined back up with the CIA). This was a very tiring episode. Had a lot of what I don't like, and very little of Casey and Awesome.
But there was that letter voiceover by SCOTT BAKULA AKA DADDY BARTOWSKI. That was the highlight of the episode for me. I don't exactly know where they're going with the Ellie/car angle but I'm glad they haven't forgotten about Stephen Bartowski despite his death. Those that I talk the show over with brought up the idea that Ellie might be the next intersect which would be strange, but at least that would give the character something to do besides waiting for a baby that isn't showing yet or a mom that isn't worth waiting for. I don't know and am starting not to care.
