2010 isn't coming to an end. *covers eyes & ears* LALALALALALALALALALA.

My November MBP's wallpaper was the "Ministry Six in the veil room" from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It is a screencap I color adjusted a long time ago and only now got around to using since Deathly Hallows premiered in the month I figured I'd go with an HP theme. And on that note for the DH premiere weekend I had this wallpaper on my Samsung Galaxy S.

November may be National Novel Writing Month, but it was just a month full of writing fail. I honestly don't know where the time went but literally every time I had free to write for NaNoWriMo, the time would pass by and I'd have nothing to show for it. The best thing to come out of the month was that I brainstormed a few new ideas worth pursuing and have a new title for my main project. I hope to return to my fanfic this month with the holidays giving me some time so we'll see. WRITING TOTAL: 142 words.

I will step away from my denial to wish a Happy Birthday to the December babies: [livejournal.com profile] bloodshed (8th), [livejournal.com profile] darthphere (12th), [livejournal.com profile] kalaylee (15th), [livejournal.com profile] blue_onion (19th) & [livejournal.com profile] corvidae9 (26th). I hope each and every one of you not only have an awesome day but a month as well, and a happy Christmas. :)

Now this is the time of year when we all like to do something nice for our friends. Some ask for addresses to send Holiday cards, but I don't because let's be honest I don't need the reality check of how little attention my posts get. Last year I think I tried writing a short fic for every friend's birthday but I ran out of steam near September so as much as I would like to I won't be writing for everyone for Christmas hell I can barely write for myself these days. So, what I'm planning to do this year for Christmas is a post where I write a short positive sentence or two to each friend on here. I haven't decided if I'll leave them anonymous to make it more fun and if I have the nerve I might even include a short personal video message to all uploaded to youtube.

Looking forward to seeing Tron and Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I figure if I add an S to the month I can still pretend it's September. Feels like just the other day 2010 was starting and now it's almost over. Halloween is at the end of the month and I am hoping that my costume will come together in time. D:

My September wallpaper for my macbook pro is one of my own, Clark Kent revealing his costume underneath that I made awhile back for my [livejournal.com profile] capes_and_cowls graphics community. Chose that one because Smallville's final season premiere was also in September. Something I started last month since I got a new cell phone was sharing my phone backgrounds. Figuring out the dimensions took a few tries but I did and I turned a shot from an Emma Watson photoshoot into my September background.

September was a mess for me and I didn't find any time to sit down and write. Hate that I have had so many months like that. WRITING TOTAL: 0 words

Lastly the Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose statue I ordered back in June finally arrived this week. My first collectible since last year and I wanted to share with you all. Not bad for $39.99.

  • Another chapter has arrived! Did you doubt me? ;)
  • This is the last chapter that was outlined originally a year ago when I started this story and should mark the end of the story jumping around so much to cover only Chloe's moments. I tried to make things more fluid in this chapter and hopefully that will continue for future chapters where it doesn't feel so much like I'm covering moments of an episode as writing her story of the episode completely.
  • Next chapter will be dealing with S2E3 "Duplicity" and I can't wait!

It's funny how it's hard to keep multiple balls up in the air.  July I was about starting a blog for my more lengthy reviews, and using tumblr to be more participatory in the community there. As a result I start neglecting my journal here.  Now in August I make a concerted effort to be active here and everything flips over and I start neglecting the other places.  So you can say I haven't found my balance yet. Which is okay because I do this all for fun anyway.  And now that I'm writing more, the days fly faster than a flock of birds (is that even a saying lol).

Also I think it's time I change my homepage for my browser.  For the longest time it was Digg.  Then I moved it to Friendfeed because I liked how the feeds of some of the people I like to read their content would post there but eventually that place died (still a slow moving death tbqh). Lastly I've been having it start up on The Leaky Cauldron, which is a Harry Potter news fansite, but now with the more readily use of Twitter by the mainstream, the need to have a news blog (even fandom news) be my main page seems unnecessary. I can't think of the last time I've done more than glance at it before clicking on a site on my bookmark toolbar.  Haven't decided what I'll change it to yet, but it'll definitely be some place that I'll strive to be more active on.

Enough about being active though. Back to writing (made up for a sucky friday by being really productive Saturday - which you should have seen with that fic post of mine) keep the momentum rolling! :)

  • That's right, your eyes are not deceiving you. After a year hiatus an update to His Girl Friday has finally arrived and as a special gift (and a result of my underestimation of how long the chapter would be) this chapter is extra-sized.
  • The first half was written back in March and probably should have been released as its own chapter but the second half which I wrote this weekend had a relating theme that was worth keeping together. Hope it's worth the wait.
  • Next chapter will be shorter in length and hopefully update time. It will cover the second half of the "Heat" episode.

I think I talked about my plan to try to get through every video game I own from this generation and the last of consoles before I continue purchasing games only to have them sit on the shelf for a long time.  Anyway, first on my list (alphabetically) was Batman Vengeance for the PS2.  It came out in 2001 and is based off the 90's Batman the Animated Series with voices from the series like Batman, Batgirl, Harley Quinn and Joker (Mark Hamil!).  The cutscenes brought back memories of the old series and the game was separated into several episodes each with their own title page like the series.

The game was a total of 19 levels and some were extremely short, some were confusing in what you had to get done and others were just plain out right frustrating in the simplest maneuvers would take me close to an hour to get through.  I don't know how much was the control scheme and how much was the fact that my controller is not the newest and doesn't have the sharpest response as a result.  I think any fan of the BTAS series that likes video games should definitely give it a try but be ready for frustration. I'll put it this way, it's a great game that I hope never to play again.  I finished it last month. Next game on the list is Bloodrayne 2 for the PS2, I've played about an hour or two of it and damn it is VERY BLOODY.  Totally warranting the MA-17 rating.

I can't remember a time when I'm actively watching so many new seasons of TV shows.  The return of White Collar led to me trying out Covert Affairs which caused me to then catch Burn Notice and Psych AND NOW I'M WATCHING NEARLY EVERY SHOW ON THE USA NETWORK!  But clearly Psych is my new favorite show. I can't believe it took five seasons for me to give the show the chance, but I think I've changed in that time and maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed Psych back then.  I'm making sure never to watch an episode of Royal Pains just so that I don't get hooked on another show, and as for Burn Notice I have to say it seems much more like a 'on in the background' type of show for me.  I like the action and the narrating storytelling device but I've seen a handful of episodes in the last week and more often than not I'm not exactly wanting more afterward.

I've also started watching the new BBC Sherlock series.  I've only seen the first part and plan to watch last Sunday's episode shortly but it is doing just enough to keep me interested.  I did think the 'Pink' episode had some pacing problems, and at times it seemed like Holmes' keen observation skills were dulled in order to help the viewer figure out the clues at the same time of him (I'm thinking of the scene where the police are in Holmes' place and he's telling everyone to be quiet over and over).  Also has anyone noticed that they've certainly modeled the music after the Robert Downey Jr. Holmes movie, I wasn't the only person to notice that similarity when I was watching the episode and I think it's a brilliant thing to do considering the success of the film and how it gives the show a touch of the Old Holmes feel while being modern.

That did get me thinking though - does anyone remember hearing about another Holmes movie being made?  I'm not talking about the Guy Ritchie directed, RDJ starring sequel that I'm sure is on the horizon, but when the RDJ movie was being made I had heard that there was another Holmes movie in the works by a different company and there was question as to which would do better as Guy Ritchie had been in a bit of a rut box office wise with his movies.  Since the RDJ Holmes came out I have not heard a peep.

Lastly, I met my writing goal for last night!  Already in one day I wrote more than I did in July and some of the months before that.  I love when I can get in a groove and I'm looking forward to getting back to writing tonight (I think you can tell with the length of this post).  Also everything I wrote last night is for a story I've decided wasn't going anywhere and wont' be seeing the light of day anytime soon, but fear not I am absolutely excited with the idea of touching up some of the fics that I've left dormant here for the last few years and maybe completing a few (since that is a peeve of mine to leave something incomplete).  I'm going to proclaim it now, AUGUST WILL BE BEST WRITING MONTH EVER!!!

My macbook desktop wallpaper for June comes from an art piece I found on Deviant Art. Drawn by MarcioTakara, it's a group picture of the X-men. I am a fan of his drawing style and noticed his art because of his pieces on Justice League & Avengers.

There seems to be a trend developing in my writing in that every other month (FEB,APR,JUNE) have equated with no amount of writing produced. While early June was pretty free for writing that I didn't get done, the last three weeks have been hectic and it's been odd times of the day here in July that I'll find myself opening up docs and tweaking things. I'm been outlining chapters for several stories to the point where I'm almost ready to write, so I'm hoping July will be my most productive ficwise in awhile. And I hope I'm successful in that because in August I am setting myself an ambitious goal as I focus solely on a original story I've been piecing together for about five years now. WRITING TOTAL: 0 words

And on the note of writing, a reminder to anyone that has been thinking about participating in the bi-annual Porn Battle that I've written for two of the last three events: PROMPT SUBMISSION STARTS MONDAY!! We have through Thursday to get submissions in and then posting occurs from the 18th-25th. I have an unfinished smutty Chlark one-shot that I had originally started for the [livejournal.com profile] dcu_freeforall Spring Porn Fest that I may convert for the Porn Battle. One-shots tend to be the only place I can contain my shippyness to only one ship for a story so I do want to submit one or two.

There are a lot of July birthdays happening around me with not only my friends here on livejournal but also offline. Unfortunately for them I only send out birthday wishes to my friends here on LJ, so a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUG TO: [livejournal.com profile] scarlett71177 (11th TODAY!) & [livejournal.com profile] dj_tenku (14th).

Lastly, in what seems to be a trend with these new month posts, I just made a new icon post over at [livejournal.com profile] capes_and_cowls. It features plenty of icons from the Cliff Chiang drawn issue of Brave & the Bold (and everyone knows that I just adore his art!).

A whole month of 2010 has come and gone and I can't believe it. I seem to say that at the beginning of every month, now that I pay attention to the beginning and endings of months, they seem to go by a lot faster than I'd like.

First up is something new I'm adding to the first of the month posts because I sometimes get behind in making journal entries in a timely manner, I'd like to send birthday wishes to everyone publicly celebrating birthdays in February: [livejournal.com profile] autumnrae89 (3rd), [livejournal.com profile] htbthomas (17th) & [livejournal.com profile] roguecatwoman (22nd). I hope each of you have a very Happy Birthday this month and I'm sure I'll say it again to you on that day. :)

Another new feature to this post would be my writing total update. I put a goal of 10k words written a month. I came up fairly shot, but I am proud of how much I actually did end up writing. WRITING TOTAL: 5,091 words (4,678 posted - the two Harry/Hermione Porn Battle Prompts I filled, 413 unposted - the starting of Naboo's Champion CH1 & His Girl Friday CH3)

Now for a regular, my macbook desktop wallpaper for January. It's a return to a Smallville theme for the first time since last March with Chloe (from I think S2). It helped fill that gap while Smallville was on hiatus and a constant reminder that His Girl Friday is awaiting its' next chapter.

Unfortunately my Naruto calendar's focus for February is Sasuke, one of the few characters I really dislike in the series. (I'll add in a photo of it when I have time tomorrow.)

And like last month's entry, I wanted to leave on a mention that I did in fact post a new batch of DC & Marvel icons over at [livejournal.com profile] capes_and_cowls just a few days ago. As well as the splash page wallpapers I said I'd start posting for members whenever I come across one.

The start of the year means looking back and creating the annual fanfic index of the previous year. I skipped this last year because I woefully produced barely any in 2008 but with a resurgence in 2009 I thought it'd only be right to include it in this post. I'm eager to see how much I ended up writing and where I can improve, and what stories I need to continue (because I will).

It's November! Wow, where did the time go?  Halloween came and went, Veteran's Day is next week with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas down the next block.  I know 2009 hasn't been the best year for most, and it's been tight here as well, but this might be the fastest year that's gone by in awhile for me.  Maybe it's just age, the older you get the quicker the sands of the hourglass seem to slip through your fingers.

As usual with a new month, here's last month's desktop. It's from Eureka 7 and I just liked the pink hue it gave my screen.  I really need to see that series someday. With myself starting to catch up on all these tv shows, I might start trying to make a dent in my anime collection.  It's frightening to think about. lol.

Also I hope to have an icon post this weekend, I hadn't had much time to do icons but i started back up this week and should have a decent sized batch this time around. :)

And since it's November, NaNoWriMo is going on and as usual I'm not technically participating - mostly because I haven't had the time to write fic and until this month I'd been struggling creatively. However I'm trying to take the NaNo mood to heart and will try to write as much as I can with whatever I do this month including the short story I've been working on for my creative writing class, along with a one act play and a few papers I have to write this month.  I wish I could use a stats bar to keep track anyway, I always like seeing that in other people's NaNo update posts.  As a result I've written about 4000 words this week, including 1600 this afternoon in an hour and a half. I think I've pushed past that block I've had as I've written more this week then anytime in the last 4 months and I'm feeling really good about that side of me.  Expect some fic next week if things continue like this, and I should have my short story to post by Wednesday.
emeraldstag: Sailor Moon's Usagi & Luna (celebrity)
It's been awhile since I've written something for fun or myself and not for an assignment or something (almost two months).  Thankfully while I've been struggling to write out the short story I'm tasked to complete (taking longer than I thought) something interesting happened recently.  I started thinking about the other stories I want to write and aspects of them to the point that I was looking up words for definitions and synonyms.

It might not seem like much but it's fantastic news from my head.  I've been WANTING to write this whole time, that has never lacked.  For awhile it was the lack of time but after awhile it became an inability to put words together.  So I've put myself to trying to write anywhere else while the stories aren't coming out, so i've been tweeting up a storm, posted a lot more here in October than I have in awhile just to keep words coming out even if they weren't the one I wanted.  So now, suddenly I'm thinking about this original story I've had in mind for years and coming up with a new name for some of the topics covered in it and I got that feeling again.  That one I haven't had in awhile, that writing is FUN. :)

So once I kick the first draft of this short story out of the way, I plan on getting through the birthday drabbles I owe to some lovely people and then scratching the itch of stories that I need to dust off.  I desperately want to get back to His Girl Friday, my Chlark story in the Smallville universe and I'd like to finish Beastly Beauty, my Harry Potter story but I've been having trouble getting back into that fandom overall recently.  I've also had a Naruto idea stuck in my head for awhile and because of the sizable response I received on fanfiction.net from my one chapter of Protector of Konoha makes me want to revisit that fandom fictionally.  I've also had some tinglings with the Spider-man fandoms, maybe writing something in the Spectacular Spider-Man universe and I'd like to continue the Great Power, Great Responsibility & Great Love story that I started a long while ago but I don't want to stretch myself too thin when I'm just starting back up.

So we'll see, but I'm excited to possibly finally being over this writing hurdle that has plagued me for the last few months.  And hopefully I'll be able to lavish you all with new chapters fairly soon. That is my fun goal this Fall/Winter, I wonder if I can use all this writing as my Nano-ish type writing schedule because I'd love to write that much in just one month.  Closing in on a productive November, I can feel it! :)
